If you KNOW these things, Blessed are you if you do them.
The above powerful statement was spoken by the lord Jesus Christ, having taught his disciple the royalty of services in john 13: 1 -17. he made them realized that a man is truly great when he has the “regal humility, which make him both servant and king among men”. However, our focus, today, is on the three key words in verse seventeen: ‘Knowledge’, ‘obedience’, blessed.’ read 17 again.
KNOWLEDGE here means.
• Knowledge of the true God – His nature, character, and will.
• Knowledge of the scriptures and their contents, especially the parts which relate to your salvation.
• A knowledge of yourself as fallen, sinful, polluted, and helpless (Romans 3:23)
• A knowledge of Jesus Christ as the true son of God sent to you for the salvation of your soul (John 3:16)
OBEDIENCE mean:
• Having respect to the will of God, and to all His commandment.
• Doing God’s will, not in the way of merit and self righteousness, but with all lowliness and humility of mind.
• Following His commandment, not from fear or constraint, but from a sense of grateful love to Christ Jesus.
• Being faithful to the end, meaning that your obedience to God must be constant and persevering.
BLESSEDNESS is the product of Knowledge and Obedience. This includes:
• Being blessed with a rightly regulated mind, No chaos, confusion, and “night” but light, order and ‘day’ of mind (Matthew 11:18).
• Internal peace with conscience, with all men, and with God.
• Having guilt concealed, fetters burst, and wrath removed. This is the happiness of conscious safety, and the testimony of being and accepted child of God.
• Good, bright and solid hope of victory, full salvation and eternal life.
• Sufficient grace and heavenly visitation in every time of need(2 Corinthians 12:9 )
CONCLUSION.
Blessedness does not come as a result of being a member of a church; or having a regular observance of Divine worship; or having sound opinions and view about Christianity. You may be most popular person in the church and society, and yet be a stranger to spiritual practical godliness. You may belong to purest Christian Communion or hold the most orthodox view and yet not be happy in the lord. True happiness is wonderfully delineated in the knowledge and practice the word of God. Jesus says: if you know these things, Blessed are you if you do them.
